US IRDC 2015, probably happening
I was lying in bed trying to fall asleep and I had an idea. This is becoming a trend. This is why I moved into my car.
When I read that there was a separate International Roguelike Development Conference being held in the US this year, I thought, “Ok, I should go to this.”
Laying there dozing off, I thought, “Why don’t I give a talk?”
What the hell would I talk about? What do I know about that I RARELY see talked about?
Community building.
The community, the players themselves, ARE the living game, and they are the ones who carry the game long past its original development cycle. I rarely see anyone talk about the role of the community in a niche genre like roguelikes, but that’s where most of my experience lies, in being a part of or a leader of the community.
DAT @.
So I signed up. We’ll see what happens.
